| INCH CHUA | ||
![]() |
The first Singapore solo artist selected to perform at the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas and one of her nation's most prominent indie singer/songwriters, Chua was the front-woman for Allura, a popular alternative rock act. Since then, she has departed from her boisterous rock singing to work on her solo career, which focuses on developing her schizophrenic potpourri of introspective acoustic tunes and quirky rhythms. Despite the change, her unmistakable voice remains true. As a seasoned and distinguished performer, Chua and her skills continue to be sought out for various projects, including independent film work and commercial jingles. The two-time World Championship Finalist of the World Yoyo Contest (Artistic Performance Division) hopes to spread his love of Filipino culture and fond childhood memories in the 90s when yo-yos ruled the world with his performance. |

| LIONS AMBITION | ||
![]() |
Though they just began their musical career as a group in 2008, this Seattle-based band has already played in different showcases throughout the U.S. and Canada and has opened for Ludacris, Talib Kweli, and Shwayze. With their soulful rock vocals and dynamic rhymes, it is no wonder that they have already shared the stage with such recognizable artists. Their infectious melodies and thought-provoking lyrics capture an array of emotions and capture many facets of life, comparable to other hip hop and rock fusion bands such as Linkin Park and Gym Class Heroes. The inspiration for their music is based on "following your dreams and defying obstacles," which is the very stuff that their music inspires in their fans. Website: http://www.lionsambition.net/ |

| CHRIZLE REYES | |
![]() |
Chrizle (pronounced criz-el) owes her unique name to her mother, who was also singer and performer herself. When not working her day job helping the wounded as a nurse, Chrizle spends her time soothing weary ears with her soul-inspired folk music. Taking every opportunity to play and share her talents with the world, oftentimes she'll even play multiple gigs on the same day. She's opened for former Kollaboration Acoustic headliner Marie Digby, and frequently collaborates with fellow KA5 artist Nessa Rica. She also loves her motorcycle, heels, leather, and guns, but not for protection, she has her white belt in taekwondo for that! |
| ENSEMBLE MEMO | |
![]() |
Crescenta Valley High School students Francisco Lee, Jonathan Sim, John Chu, Chris Cho, and Joseph Oh are Ensemble Memo, a Christian symphonic quintet formed in 2010 to serve the community. Ensemble Memo primarily gives back by using the proceeds they earn from playing various gigs to acquire musical instruments for schools that lack the funds to fully support arts education. They also play at local church and community events, and are proud to have worked with community groups such as the Hope Sight Mission Association and the Drug and Alcohol Coalition of Glendale. Ensemble Memo believes that the talent that they possess is a gift from God, and they seek to use this gift to help their community and bring joy to their audiences. |
| JASON YANO | |
![]() |
Jason Zengo Yano is a singer/songwriter, blues/funk guitarist, and Aretha Franklin idolizer. Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, JZY's earliest influences include interpretive dancing and head-out-the-car-window belting to the Lion King soundtrack and singing his ABCs with sisters Jennifer and Jessica. After graduating from USC with a degree in Psychology, Jason skipped town and kept his '86 Mazda headed north till he reached the gloomy muse of Seattle, WA where he honed his love for all things Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and everything else funky and soulful. Now having returned to the Southern California scene, Jason is excited to start a new stage in the evolution of his sound, career, and soul. |
| LINDSEY YUNG | |

Her latest album is a collection of songs she wrote and showcases her crystalline voice as well as her piano and ukulele chops. She has recently opened for Tyrone Wells and Jon Foreman, and is currently working on multiple music projects to be released in 2011. Check out the official bio, music, videos and everything else at: www.LindseyYung.com |
| THE MOOD JUNKIES | |
![]() |
One fateful night, vocalist Tricia Coronel was in search of a guitarist after getting bailed on for a gig. Answering the online post was guitarist Mike Tiedge who, despite only having met Tricia once before, saved the show with an amazing clutch performance. From this chance meeting, and the subsequent inclusion of mutual friend and percussionist Jeremiah Francisco, The Mood Junkies was formed and the trio has never looked back. With each member bringing their own unique flavor and style, The Mood Junkies effortlessly blend jazz, latin, and soul music into an irresistible concoction. Be forewarned, one listen to their addictive sound and you might just become a junky yourself. |
| NESSA RICA | |
![]() |
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Nessa Rica began writing her own songs when she was just 10 years old, but it wasn't until her big move to Southern California in late 2007 that she really began her journey in becoming an independent artist and singer/songwriter. Able to play the piano and, more recently, the guitar, Nessa's style of music is derived from many musical influences, but she credits her family as her main source of inspiration. She enjoys engaging with her audience and is always willing to share a joke or two from her vast repertoire. Her first EP entitled "Heart's Desire" is now available on iTunes. |
| TEESA | |
![]() |
Teesa found her love of music through teaching herself guitar at a very young age. Her youth was spent playing in Rock-n-Roll bands, touring independently, and living out of her apartment-like van, before finally coming to Los Angeles to sharpen her voice and songwriting skills. Teesa developed her sound by bouncing her songs off the ears of music producer, Mighty Mike. His fantasy-like beat production mixed with her love for mega-pop melodies has created the sound you hear today. Influenced by Japanese Anime, 80's dance, Daft Punk, and everything Prince, Teesa wants to take her fans into an alternate realm of freedom - a world where you can soar like a super hero and dance like a party freak! |
| TRANLEY | |
![]() |
A singer/songwriter from Cerritos, California, Tranley (Richard Tran) has been performing since the winter of 2008. Starting off in local cafes and open mics, he has performed his music all across Southern California from charity events, at high schools and colleges, to larger venues, such as the House of Blues. Believing in spreading good vibes and positive messages, Tranley blends the acoustic soul with jazz & blues and serves it to you on those perfect summer days or winter nights. He invites you to grab a cup, have a seat, and relax. |
Kollab Summer 2010 Interns Experience
Read about our Kollaboration Summer 2010 Interns experience.
Davina Dan – Summer 2010 Intern
Long drives sitting through traffic, running through the streets of ktown putting up posters and handing out flyers in the hot summer sun, and excel sheets on top of excel sheets, adding links to every single one of our YouTube videos to spread the word about the upcoming show, as well as numerous questions from ticket buyers that all need answers in a timely manner; sounds miserable, right? Right. :P Well... that's what one would think, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I honestly had the time of my life this past summer doing what I love.
I had heard about Kollaboration years ago, but was never able to make it to a show because I was always working on the weekends. But this year I had finally freed myself from the shackles of my job and decided I wanted to do something that I loved, and Kollaboration was exactly that. I was able to meet tons of awesome people and had a great experience at all of our events. KA4 was especially memorable, it was my first Kollab show and the fact that it was a sold out show made it that much better because it seemed to emphasize that all of our hard work paid off. All the labels that we put on each of the flyers by hand, the time we spent planning and marketing, the numerous emails we had to answer, the tickets that we had to organize, everything was well worth it in the end.
My time as an intern at Kollaboration was definitely unforgettable; it was a fun learning experience. Not only did we prepare for the show, we had special meetings where we got to meet with people in the industry which was cool and interesting; and we did a little presentation marketing a certain pocket video camera with our own twist- this was probably the most school-like task we had, and not in a bad way, it was actually pretty fun preparing for it. I loved that I was able to get a lot of hands-on experience. We got to see all the steps in preparing for a show, even meeting with the people at the Ford Amphitheater. Then there was also the SMTown Live After Party and the Tully's Grand Opening, all of these events were different learning experiences and a lot of fun, but that doesn't mean it wasn't stressful, there were a few stressful times as well, but when is life ever stress-free?
Furthermore, the Kollaboration internship reinforced my belief that happiness is way more important than money, I wasn't making any money being an intern but I was really happy being involved, I was much happier being broke and doing what I love as opposed to making a decent amount of money but being absolutely miserable. Kollaboration has taught me a lot, and not just in relation to concerts and the Asian American community. I look forward to being involved in all the shows to come, (Christine, you won't be able to get rid of us! Connie and I will be your interns forever! :] ) even though I'm not in the country this year, I will without a doubt help out again once I get back!

Connie Luu – Summer 2010 Intern
Uplifting live music, breezing cool air, and working with an amazing group of staff members. That was the night of Kollaboration Acoustic 4. Looking back, it was truly an unforgettable summer.
I remember the first day of my internship; I had mixed feelings as to what I was getting myself into. I was going to school, working part time and taking on this internship. I really didn’t know what to expect and I was worried about how my summer would turn out. Little did I know, I learned a lot about myself, met some pretty amazing people and developed friendships throughout the experience. I was even fortunate enough to work on Tully’s Grand Opening (where I found my love for caramel frosting) and the SM Town After-party. I also found my partner in crime during the process of these events.
As a KA4 intern, I got to see how the planning, ticket tours and ticket sales all happened. At times, we would have outings and they were interesting and fun. We always had a good time taping, posting, and laughing despite the heat. Aside from the show, the interns were given a marketing project to work with. On the first day of the assignment, all of the interns were in this big conference room thinking of the concept for our project. Within 5 minutes, we were shooting out ideas and compiled them together. It was really a fun experience that all of us worked on together. Since the interns were split into 2 groups coming in the office to work on the acoustic show. We didn't have much of an opportunity to get to know the other "group." Working on the marketing project really helped us get to know each other better.
Kollaboration has really taught me to come out of my shell and not to worry about the unexpected. I’m grateful to be a part of the Kollab family and given an opportunity to be a part of the movement.

Kollaboration on MNET's BPM
Kollaboration was asked by MNET to be on their show Beats Per Mnet with hosts Felicia Khong and our very own PK! It was an interesting experience because PK is the one who usually answers the questions about Kollaboration, but this time, he was the one asking the questions. It gave us a chance to reflect on how much Kollaboration has grown and what it is today. It was great to also see PK living out his dream of hosting his own show. Thank you MNET, BPM, and PK!
