In her spoken word poetry, she hopes to be a voice for those who cannot be heard and to dismiss all the stereotypes and misconceptions she faced growing up and still faces today. She tries to preserve her culture as best she can and hopes to be a role model for those who are ashamed of their own. She believes that Asians don't all have to be doctors or mathematicians to become products of their environment. She encourages using the right side of the brain even if strict parents discourage it.

HOUSTON, TX - MYLYN GRACE RAMOS

MYLYN GRACE RAMOS
An aspiring violinist, Mylyn Grace Ramos takes pride in the vision for her music: creating an experience that takes the listener into the heart of harmonious sounds. Starting her violin studies at age nine, Ramos quickly developed a fond love for both her instrument and the music that emanated from it. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, it’s not surprising that a plethora of musical influences inspire her playing. From Mozart to mariachi and Beethoven to the Beastie Boys, her eclectic tastes and constant desire to push the performance envelope has helped shape her style. Her biggest influence, however, is the deep tie she has with her Filipino culture. While taking pride in her extensive classical training, she has recently branched out to experiment with violin freestyle and pop covers. When not performing, she enjoys free writing, reading, spending time with family and making people laugh.
